Peran Guru PPKn dalam Menumbuhkan Sikap Disiplin Siswa SMP Bustanul Muta'alimin Blitar: Sebuah Studi Kasus

Abstract

This study aims to describe the role of Civic Education (PPKn) teachers in fostering students’ disciplinary attitudes at SMP Bustanul Muta’alimin Blitar. Discipline is an essential character value that needs to be instilled through Civic Education learning, particularly in schools located within a pesantren (Islamic boarding school) environment. This research employed a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation involving PPKn teachers, students, and school representatives, and were analyzed through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings show that PPKn teachers play roles as educators, role models, motivators, and controllers of student behavior. Strategies implemented include the internalization of disciplinary values through instructional content, habituation to comply with school and pesantren regulations, the provision of exemplary behavior in daily life, and the application of educational reward-and-punishment systems. The religious environment of the pesantren and the orderly school culture serve as supporting factors, while differences in students’ backgrounds and peer influence pose certain challenges. The study concludes that PPKn teachers have a strategic role in shaping students’ disciplinary attitudes through the integration of classroom instruction, character guidance, and exemplary conduct within both the school and pesantren environments.
